William Harrison

William Harrison (b. 1952, Albany, NY) grew up in the suburbs of Chicago and studied art at the University of Illinois. After spending many years as a successful commercial artist Harrison turned his talents to fine art. He works exclusively at drawing in carbon pencil, creating incredibly detailed and life-like pieces. The goal of each of his drawings is to create a portrait of the individual, frozen in a moment in time, rather than an idealized depiction. He consciously leaves out backgrounds, preferring to focus the viewer’s attention on the beauty of the creature itself.
